In the second installment of The Cavanaughs, the writers, actors and hangers on, who came together thanks to a fledgling TV pilot called—you guessed it— The Cavanaughs, continue to reveal a bit more of themselves. I have to say, I’m enjoying this quiet, sitcom-within-a-soap.
Noreen Cavanaugh (Ginger Snappz) is funny, but needs to be “bigger” and have more screentime in the serial. Grant Landry (Mark) is a ready talent, and provides a nice surge of testosterone to the mix. Let’s get him out of his clothes and having a couple of scandalous romps! Is it just me, or does anyone else hope Mark ends up hooking up with Scott (Daniel Rhyder), and not Scott’s ditzy friend Sarah (Amanda Broadwell)?
So far I give writer-star Adrian Morales’ (Bryan) labour of love a solid B-. With a little soaping up (i.e. Why not give drag queen Noreen a bitter ex-wife, whom he abandoned for a career in showbiz and maybe a pair of hedonistic, unstable teenage children?), I could totally see this indie soap on Here! or Logo.
